Haagen Dazs Reserve Fleur de Sel Caramel Ice Cream

I almost had a coronary while I was watching the news this morning. Surely, there was a mistake when the weatherman announced that “today’s high temperature will reach a record-breaking 91 degrees.” I fell in to a further state of shock when I noticed the reading on the bottom left hand corner of my television screen (where the news channel microscopically displays the current temperature). The time wasn’t even 6:30am and it was already 75 degrees outside! On these unseasonably sweltering days, how does one cool off (since it’s only April, this sadly rules out beaches and swimming pools)?

Here’s the 4-11: You are well aware that an iced coffee (watered down with skim milk and Splenda), frozen yogurt or a diet soda would be the smartest methods of refreshment, but deep down, you’re pissed off that you went to the effort of straightening your hair for work this morning (only to have the humidity turn it in to a hot frizzy mess). You know damn well that the only thing that will bring a smile to your face today is ice cream. Now, calm down and take a deep breath because I’m going to tell you about my latest devilishly-delicious discovery to beat the heat. Without further ado, allow me to introduce: Haagen Dazs Reserve Fleur de Sel Caramel Ice Cream.

OK, I know what you’re thinking: “Salted caramel ice cream? WTF? Ew!” I’ll admit that the flavor combination does sound odd at first, but if you can answer “yes” to any of the questions below, then I guarantee that you’ll love this ice cream:

  • Do you like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups?
  • Are you a fan of Hershey’s Take Five candy bars?
  • Do you enjoy chocolate-dipped pretzels?
Now, I want for you to read the following description, then close your eyes and imagine all of these flavors in unison: (From the Haagen Dazs website) “Fleur de Sel caramels covered in a chocolaty coating blended into caramel ice cream with caramel ribbons and French sea salt accents. Crisp, salty nuances harmonize with rich, creamy caramel for the ultimate combination of sweet and salty.” So, are you drooling yet?

You can’t help but love the fact that, even aside from their higher-end “Reserve” line of products, Haagen Dazs ice creams are all made with the highest quality ingredients and void of extra preservatives and other crap that you can’t pronounce.

It gets better! Don’t know where to pick up a pint of this indulgent treat? Haagen Dazs makes it simple. Follow this link: http://www.haagendazs.com/reserve/fds.aspx. Scroll towards the bottom of the page to “flavor finder.” Enter your zip code, hit “find it,” and you’re golden.
