Crumb's Bakery: The infamous "black & white" cookie
Friday, August 21, 2009 at 1:53PM Just had Crumb's "black & white" cookie. And just like they said on "Men on Film" (from In Living Color)...HATED IT! Icing was fine (but jeez, that's hard to screw up), but the cake was dry and CRUMBly (no pun intended). What's the big deal w/ this bakery anyways? I'd rather get my "black & white" cookie fix from the Entenmann's rack at Duane Reade.

Oh, no! Black and white cookies are my new favourite (I'm a bit behind here, I know), and I never even thought to look for them at Crumbs! Now I'm going to have to go to the one at Grand Central after work to see for myself. Maybe my lowered expectations will make it more delicious for me now.
@plump: Girl, trust me, I wanted to love this b&w cookie. People were going nuts about it on chow.com. I found the cake dry. I'm telling you though, sadly, Entenmann's makes a kick ass b&w cookie. As far out as it sounds, theirs is the best version I've had in recent memory!!
i've had black and whites from dozens of places before. i've never had one as good as from crumbs. my girlfriend isn't the biggest black and white fan, and crumbs is the only place she'll eat one from.
@anonymous: Trust me, I wanted to love Crumb's b&w cookies, but I found them too dry. Where else have you been that you recommend? I've enjoyed Ess-a-bagel's version.
